Learners Y Factor with Johnny Ball PDF Print E-mail

Are you or have you been doing something innovative, different and interesting that gives your learning the “Y” factor?

Would you like to share your story with others and enter a fun game where the final will be held in London on Monday 13th October?

In association with Becta's "Next Generation Learning" initiative, Learners Y Factor is an opportunity to showcase the innovation and ingenuity being demonstrated amongst young learners using mobile or ubiquitous technologies in their learning.

It's all about the fun of learning in new and exciting ways. For the winners there will be prizes including game consoles, computers and mp3 players.

Entries may be from individuals or teams of up to 4 members and must have the consent of parent or guardian and, if relevant, the school involved. Entrants must be aged between 6 and 16 years by October 2008.

Johnny BallEntries will be reviewed and those successful will be invited to London to present their work to a panel of (friendly) judges and a live audience with Johnny Ball (pictured) as compere. Those invited will receive gifts and the entry that, in the opinion of the judges and audience, demonstrates the most “Y” factor will be invited to present in the main Handheld Learning Conference.

Entries can be in the form of either a page on a social network such as Bebo or MySpace, a blog or a web site where there should be at least one video that demonstrates your work along with a description of why you believe the work is innovative and how it has helped in your learning. If you wish, any online material may be password protected but you will need to provide us with log-in details.

The closing date for entries has been extended to August 15th. Successful entries will be notified by September 8th.

Entrance to the conference and exhibition is FREE and open to the general pubic on the first day so bring your friends, family and teachers!
